COACHING SESSION: A reminder to members that Sue Beattie will be conducting a coaching session for golf and association players on 1 December from 4pm-6pm. A BYO barbeque will follow. Strokes and strategies of both codes will be covered.
A thank you to all those members who have run coaching and courtesy sessions over the last few months. By going to these sessions members have a better understanding of our club. Those who have not attended, these sessions are very worthwhile and can help grasp the workings of the club and stroke and strategies of both codes of croquet.
CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON: To be held on 18 December at the Kingston Golf Course. (12.30 for 1pm). Cost is $25 for a two-course lunch. PLEASE CHECK you have placed your name on the list at the Club. It is possible there were two lists and one has disappeared. If not on current list just add your name and if paid, indicate this. Payment for lunch should be placed in an envelope with your name and purpose of money on the envelope. CLOSING date is 12 December.
WINE DONATION: We have had several bottles of red wine donated to the Club by Zoc. Thanks Zoc, I am sure it will be put to good use, particularly at this time of year. These can be purchased by a donation of $10. Again, if you wish to purchase one or more of the bottles, place the money in an envelope and write what the money is for. This helps our treasurer Patricia keep her records accurate.
LAWN BOOKINGS: The best way of letting members know when lawns are available is by placing times when lawns are in use on the white board near the barbeque. Social players will be able to check the availability of lawns for social play. This stops unnecessary travel and the disappointment on arriving at the club to find you can’t play. Although association pennant is finished Golf Croquet Pennant will be starting early January, so once more lawns will be limited.
NEW MEMBER: The Club welcomes Russell Brown, our newest member. We hope you enjoy your time with the KCC.
ANNUAL CLUB BARBEQUE: This will be on Thursday 15 February. It is an afternoon and evening event so keep your diary free for this event. Details later.
TWILIGHT CROQUET AT SANDY BAY: Social croquet will be played at Sandy Bay Club on the first Sunday of each month (during daylight savings), starting at 4pm. The code of play will be determined by those attending. Members from all clubs are invited to take part. Just turn up.
TASMANIAN AC HILO DOUBLES: Kingston members had wins in all three doubles events played. Deidre Parker and Callum won the event, Tim Parker and Lynn Farrell won the Plate for second round losers and Sue Beattie and Margaret Pinkard won the plate for first round losers. Congratulations to these members.
