CLUB BARBEQUE: This will be held on February 21, starting around 3.30pm.
Cost will be $10 + drinks. Members please bring a salad to share and one piece of fruit , cut ready to place in the annual fruit salad. The Committee will provide everything else.
Deidre needs to know how many are coming so place your names on the sheet at the Club or contact Deidre (0438622924) by 14 February. Hope to see you there.
CROQUET NAME TAGS: Any member wanting to purchase a Club name tag, (either magnetic or pin-on), can obtain one from the key/shoe repair shop at KINGSTONTOWN. They have our emblem and will make you one. Cost is around $10.
UNDER 21 NATIONAL GOLF CROQUET: Our two young members performed very well in this competition in very hot Adelaide. Miley was runner-up to Latrobe’s Curtis Mead in the consolation final and he and Curtis were just tipped out of second place in the doubles final. Jamie (aged 10) played valiantly and scored hoops against players twice his age and size.
CLUB GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS: These are now finished. Although I do not have all results, the HI-LO competition was won by Phil and one of our younger members, Jeremy . Congratulations to all winners and well done to those members who entered in these events. Hopefully you enjoyed the play and have improved your knowledge of the rules and strategies of golf croquet.
MAYORAL CHALLENGE: Thank you Deidre for organizing this event. The day was perfect, the setting at government house was picturesque. The Mayors or their representatives enjoyed the play, as did those club members partnering the VIPS. The event was won by George Town’s deputy mayor, Tim Harris and East Launceston player Alison Henty. Governor Kate Warner presented the trophy to the winners, then all present enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the lawns of Government House.
GOLF CROQUET PENNANT GAMES: Kingston is performing well in all divisions. Our C Division team has not lost a game. Keep up the great work.
AC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS: Entry forms are now available for the Club AC Championship events. Closing date is 28 February, and all games must be completed by the end of May.
KINGSTON CROQUET CLUB’S AGM: This will be held on 11 May. Club Championship Trophies will be presented later at a High Tea which will be held in the mid-year. More information later.
WORKING BEE: We have listed the 4th May to be the date for our next working bee. However, if you see anything which needs improving at the Club before this date, members are encouraged to tackle these tasks at a time convenient to you. If you are not sure that you are doing the correct thing or that you need help, please let a committee person know and they will assist.
SOUTH WEST ROCKS VISIT: A reminder that this will be held on the 8 March with the visitors arriving around 10am. Normal club social play will occur, with our players mixing in with the visitors.
It should be a fun time. Members are asked to bring a plate of finger food for a shared lunch.
HOUSE KEEPING: Peter T has donated a new carpet sweeper to the Club. It makes cleaning up crumbs so much easier. Thanks Peter.
