Following a club tradition of inviting the reigning Lord Mayor to run the first hoop we were delighted that the Right Honourable, the Lord Mayor of Hobart, Councillor Anna Reynolds accepted our invitation and successfully ran the first hoop of the season under the watchful eye of our President Graham Keating. Anna also presented Life Membership certificates to 3 long standing members and drew the 12 raffle prize winners. Thanks to all who came along to the opening day. The weather was kind, the food fabulous and the friendship that comes with such a great club was on display.

Secretary, Croquet Tasmania
Last week the St Leonards Croquet Club had the honour of presenting Life Membership to their long serving member Ian Scott.
Ian was the guiding force behind the establishment of the St Leonards Croquet Club and the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre. He was a former member of the Cosgrove Park Croquet Club and Royal Park Croquet Club before he turned his love for the game into establishing the St Leonards Croquet Club in 2011. Ian spent many long hours and lots of hard work establishing the centre so that today we have an outstanding venue that we all now enjoy. Ian was the inaugural President and guided the members into forming the St Leonards Croquet Club. He was also coach and mentor and represented the northern clubs on the TCA committee for many years.
The President, Jan Barnes, congratulated Ian on the award and thanked him for his dedication and hard work over many years.
Retired players Bob Godfrey, Osma Marston, Mollie Mc Bain, Rosemerry Paterson and Kevin Mc Donald joined the club members for the celebration.
A group of 25 from Reclink visited the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre.
It was fun and for all a learning curve as very little English was spoken. They all left knowing colours blue, red ,black and yellow. It was a very enjoyable time for all and promises of “we will be back”
