This GC Croquet Competition will be conducted according to the Australian Croquet Association (ACA) Tournament Regulations as found on the Australian Croquet Association Website (www.croquet-australia.com.au), together with the GC General Tournament Conditions adopted by the Tasmanian Croquet Association (Croquet Tasmania). Play will be under the current Laws of Golf Croquet as determined by the ACA and found on the Australian Croquet Association Website (www.croquet-australia.com.au)
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
1. This Event consists of a main event (played on Saturday 7 to Monday 9 March 2026) and a qualifying event (played on Friday 7 March 2026).
2. A maximum of 24 entries will be accepted for the Tournament with 25% of acceptances reserved for Tasmanian residents.
Note: A minimum of 16 entries is necessary for the event to process.
3. The 12 entries with the highest grades in the WCF GC rankings at the close of entries will gain automatic acceptance to the Main event.
4. Players will be notified within 3 days of close of entry if they have been accepted into the Main event, or if they have been offered a place in the Qualifying Event.
5. Players who miss out on automatic entry to the main event will have the option of entering the Qualifying Event and receiving a refund of $80 if not successful in moving onto the Main Event or withdrawing and receiving a full refund of $120. This option is to be exercised within 48 hours of the offer being made.
6. A maximum of 12 entries will be accepted into the Qualifying event, which will be played on Friday 6 March and the morning of Saturday 7 March (if required). Four players will qualify from the Qualifying Event for the Main event.
7. The format and duration of the Qualifying Event will depend upon the number of players taking part but will be “block play” possibly followed by either a final or semi- finals and a final.
8. The Main event will be played initially in four blocks each of four players, followed by a double-elimination knockout and a plate event.
9. Players must be prepared to play six (6) games each day.
10. Block positions will be based on a player’s grade in the WCF GC rankings at 20 February 2026, with top four from the Qualifying event taking positions 13 to 16 respectively
11. For the double-elimination knockout, positions 1 to 4 will be reserved for block winners, and other players will be drawn at random to determine their position.
12. There will be billets available for players who require them.
13. All matches will be timed for 1 hour and 20 minutes and will normally be double banked except for the final which will be untimed. All matches will be played during daylight hours (at this time of the year between 8.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m.) Players will need to be very aware of the provisions of Rule 16.3 to ensure that matches finish within the allotted time.
14. The final will be a “best of three” taking into account the previous game the finalists played against each other.
15. Atkins Quadway hoops will be used set to 3 11/16 inches ±1/32 and Dawson Mk II or III balls will be used.
